Liberi Fatali

By some twist of fate, the heroes of our game grew up together in the same orphanage. The end of the Sorceress War between Adel and Esthar left a scar on each of the children; the battle had taken the lives of their parents and thus they somehow ended up in the little white lighthouse on the edge of Centra. The group dubbed the "Orphanage Gang" consists of seven members - Squall Leonhart, Quistis Trepe, Zell Dincht, Selphie Tilmitt, Irvine Kinneas, Ellone Leonhart/Loire, and Seifer Almasy himself. A woman called Matron, otherwise known as Edea Kramer, took care of all these children and loved them all like a mother but would later become their adversary while being possessed by an evil sorceress from the future named Ultimecia.

The group called SeeD and its organization was founded off the ideas of Edea Kramer herself; weak and dying, the sorceress Ultimecia from the future passes on her powers to a young Edea on the shores of Centra right after Edea had met with an adult Squall - from that moment, their Matron knew her children would be fated to save the world from evil and havoc. She founds Garden alongside her husband, Cid Kramer.

During these younger years, all of the children established roles in their lives that would later become the personas of their future. Squall, who during his childhood spent most of his time pining away for "Sis" to come back, would become their broody yet fearless leader; Quistis, the elderly sister figure and protector, would become their Instructor and role model; Zell, who was always energetic and eager to learn, would become their energy in times of low morale; Selphie, ever vigorous and care-free, would become their their spirit and life; Irvine, the laid-back cowboy with ever-so-smooth words, would become their balance and calm; and Ellone, the sister and figure everyone looked up to, would become their link between the present, past, and future. Rinoa, once she comes, will become their innocence and their personal link to the sorceress - as she becomes one herself, once Edea passes her powers onto her.

Seifer himself, who spent most of his time bullying the children, would become a sorceress' knight and their foe. He was an extremely obvious candidate for the position as he set himself apart from the other children; he constantly picked on Zell and Squall, and his various brawls would see the attention of Quistis, who sought to sustain peace within her friends, and even Matron. Seifer's early childhood as a troublemaker clearly foreshadowed his future role as the group's antagonist.
