Cross/Crusades

The pointed cross or cross fitché can be drawn in many ways, but always has its lower vertical arm pointed. This type of cross structure originated during the time of the Crusades. The knights brought crosses with them that were designed to be thrust into the ground for divine services in their field camps. The pointed cross is associated with danger.

The cross originated during the Crusades: a time when there were stories of knights saving damsels in distress and achieving his status as a hero by returning from dangerous journeys and doing whatever his mistress bids him. This "mistress" could be translated into the sorceress, as Seifer does whatever Ultimecia commands him to, whether moral or not. "Cross Sword" could be another variation of a cross, because when you cross two swords together, you form the picture of the cross that we all know today; there are also crosses on both sides of his trenchcoat.

J.S. has also brought to my attention that the crosses that symbolize Seifer are also identical to the symbol of the Order of Santiago. The Order is, of course, another group which was employed by famous kings and was considered to be an employment with high honor.

These signs obviously reflect the recognition, fame, and respect Seifer hopes to achieve through his Romantic Dream.
